Our usually perfect plan of the past 8 years was foiled. Normally we shoot out to Wantagh on Christmas Eve against the traffic and enjoy watching Grandma frantically try to wrap a billion presents in secret while we enjoy "A Christmas Story" for another thousand times. Perhaps some wine or beer may be shared with Grandpa too.
AHHHHCCK- a 4 day weekend. Beach traffic of a friday crisis level- 2 TWO hours later we arrive. Luckily there were some naps involved to ease the pain.
Have you ever been in the car with Dylan? He reads every sign, every exit, every license plate and well anything to show that we are not moving FAST enough! And then we must also guess where the other drivers are going. And hope that he stops kicking daddy's sit who he sits behind.
Alas, we get to Grandma's and all is well. We track santa on the computer before bedtime and see that Europe has been well taken care of so we can go to sleep with good faith that Santa is on his way. www.noradsanta.org
Dylan woke like clock work and was awed by the vision of presents under the tree. Apparently Santa overlooked the budget crisis. I wish I had taken a movie when we walked in together. PURE MAGIC
Grandpa tortured Dylan with the old open the christmas stocking presents while we shower and sit down to a beautiful pancake breakfast.
Alas, the magic unraveled and Dylan couldn't get enough of the spirit of Christmas.
Next Stop: Off to Grami's in NJ !! Siohban and Eamon are waiting for us.
